As many of you know Gabs had another MRI last Thursday. We received the report on Monday but needed to wait until our oncologist took it to tumor board (group of doctors and surgeons who meet every Friday morning to review cases together). After speaking with others there and comparing our last three scans side by side we have been informed that Gabs does indeed have new growth in at least one of ...her residual paraspinal tumors.
We aren't sure yet what this means for treatment. We will need to do some more scans (specifially MIBG which uses radioactive material to "light" up any disease in the body) and perhaps a needle biopsy to find out what exactly we are dealing with. Future treatment could include another surgery or chemotherapy.
Our oncologist does not feel any urgency with treatment so thankfully we should still be able to take our Make A Wish trip scheduled for March 1-7. I am looking forward to this time to try and feel like a normal family enjoying a vacation without the constant thought of hospitals and treatments.
Thank you, as always, for continuing to pray for Gabrielle. I will update more as I know more.
